Blackwing pencils are iconic. The unusual ferrule (the metal bit that connects the pencil to the eraser) design made the pencils a collectors item when they got discontinued in 1998. Palomino then revived the design in 2010, and have since expanded the line. 

Ideal for musicians, woodworkers and anyone who prefer a soft, dark line, the Blackwing Matte is the softest of the four core Blackwing models. Each pencil features a timeless matte black finish, iconic square Blackwing ferrule and black eraser.

Beautiful stationery.

I’ve always loved good stationery, but these items are a beautiful blast from the past. The letterpress letter sets are extraordinary, and the Le jour pens 👌. Also one of the few places to buy blackwing pencils individually. Honestly, can’t look at another pencil since finding black wings 👌👌

My favourite is the matte because it is smooth
and dark and lovely to use.

I only did some test-writing on a notepad so far, but you can tell a few lines down that you are holding a high-quality product. wow, I cannot wait to test this on a drawing.

Pencil was great (when it worked) but arrived with broken lead throughout the length of the pencil which rendered it useless.

Blackwing Matte Black Pencils

If you haven’t tried Blackwing pencils then you are in for a lovely surprise. They are beautifully made, easy and satisfying to use, absolutely brilliant. Matte Black are similar to 4B and the silver 602 are like 2B.
The pencils arrived beautifully packaged and the service was excellent. I recommend both the pencils and the shop.
